Carmelized Orange Slices

These are used primarily for cocktail garnishes. I’m sure there could be other uses, but that’d be a stretch.

Ingredients:

  • Orange(s)
  • Sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Cut orange(s) into thin slices, removing any seeds
  3. Dissolve 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of water, bring to a boil (boom, just made simple syrup).
  4. Put orange slices in, submerging them in the syrup.
  5. Bring to a boil, then let the whole thing simmer for about 10 mins.
  6. Remove orange slices and add to a rack to cool.
  7. Put the orange slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silpat.
  8. Bake in oven 10 mins.
  9. Flip and bake another 10 mins.
